EGO7 vs Roeckl – The Glove Review

Hello Buckers!

It has been some time since I sat down and put some words into a blog for you all! It has been a hectic few months, form riding everyday to jumping almost every weekend, I did struggle to get back into the swing of blogging. I have been quite content on sticking to my Instagram posts, and well frankly I do miss writing down my opinions and putting my thoughts down in writing. Dangerous I know, arn’t you glad I don’t do this with a few drinks on me, god knows what I would come out with!

Anyways, getting back to the point, I have a lovely glove review below! I used to hate wearing gloves, until my hands began to start hating me for being raw and sore and just being full on horrific looking because they weren’t wearing any protection (hehe lol!)

I was gifted my Roekl gloves, as a present and I purchased the Ego 7 gloves out of curiosity, I dont know what it is, but it is extremely hard to find comfortable gloves to ride in… keep scrolling to see my thoughts below!

The Roeckl Glove

About The Roeckl Glove

“Roeckl Sports, premier equestrian glove manufacturer, is a family run business based on Munich, Germany, in their 6th generation of family ownership. Roeckl has a truly unique understanding of the sensitive relationship between horse and rider. While the rider is able to feel the shape and mood the horse is in, the horse also feels the rider. The rider communicates their intention with the body and especially with the hands, which is why riding gloves must never lesson the sensitivity. Top functional materials such as Roeck-Grip were developed by Roeckl for riding. Strong yet very thin, supple and elastic, while providing an excellent grip on the reins.

Roeckl’s excellent product artisanship and superior materials are evident in their riding gloves. They understand the bond that forms between a horse and rider, and so design gloves that foster that bond with exquisite “feel.” Roeckl Gloves fit like a second skin, allowing an elegant appearance, as well as extreme sensitivity on the reins.”

My Thoughts

Name one equestrian who doesn’t rave about the Roeckl glove? Il wait. While they are on the expensive side of riding glove, the price tag is certainly worth the price when you find yourself riding in a pair of these gloves. They seem to just mould to your hand from the minute you put them on, if they are new, old or worn they just fit so snug every time.

The wide variety of styles, colours and sizes as well as gloves for different disciplines is super impressive. Roeckl have really stepped up their game big time compared to their small range that they came out with a few years ago. There is nothing really I can fault massively with this glove, the wear and tear is long standing, I have my pair over a year now and I am only seeing small stretch marks on the side on my gloves which unlike any other glove they are certainly lasting their time.

They are comfortable, the fit is well and they are not too chunky on my hands when I am riding. Its a 10/10 from me. While they are on the slightly higher scale when it comes to the price range, it is an investment worth making! Just don’t loose them and you’ll be flying!

The Ego7 Glove

About The Ego7 Action Glove

“Ego7 ACTION Glove combines top grip technology with a classic fashion look and exceptional functionality. They are made of highly abrasion-resistant, superior vegan leather that provides a second skin effect, maximum grip and suppleness. Critical seams are double-stitched for extra durability.

The branded metal logo flap fastener across the back of the hand, the elasticated wrist ensures a snug, individual fit. These gloves fit perfectly to guarantee a real feel of the reins. Thanks to the innovative touch screen fingertips, they are cell phone compatible, perfect for daily use in schooling, training, competing and pleasure riding.”

My Thoughts

The “Action” Glove as it is described on the TRI website is a stunning glove to be fair, it’s fashionable, looks good and is not bulky and stuffy like many gloves on the equestrian market at the minute. These also go up in a number sizing format, they don’t just have a small, medium or large, which I quite like. It means you can fit your glove perfectly to your hand.

Me, like the awkward hun that I always am, I panic when trying things on in shops and struggle to pay attention to many things. This resulted in me half arse trying the glove on and ending up with a pair probably a size too big for me. And in typical Darielle fashion, she only realised after taking every single tag off and after riding in them thinking her hands would grow into them. Like Honestly, who even am I.

I can sadly say that I cant use my phone when wearing this glove, I do have a feeling that this is because they are slightly too big on me, which is a shame cause I am an awful divil for a selfie when on board. In hindsight, they are fully weather resistant, super comfortable and don’t give you that horrible sweaty hand feeling after a long hard training session. They are similar pricing to the Roeckl glove with a set price of €30 per set,

My only con, they need more colours, I would love to see a brown or a navy! I would recommend investing in a pair of these gloves even though one or two of the features mentioned didn’t technically work for me, They are smart, look extremely well in show gear, and their Vegan friendly?! What more can you want!

The Verdict

Up until recently, I would of hand on heart said their is zero comparison to the Roeckl glove, I wouldn’t of even bothered looking else wear or at another brand. But I have to say Ego7 have left me weak. They have set a standard and have delivered on a fabulous product.

Don’t get me wrong, the Roeckl glove will always be a firm favourite in my eyes, but I wont be shy recommending the Ego7 pair going forward, a save of €10 is a good save these days especially if your paying for a product of the same quality!

If you wish to purchase either glove, both are available and where purchased from TRI Equestrian. See links below!

5 Equestrian Products I Am Obsessed With

Remember me? It sure has been quite a while since I put some keyboard to interweb! I am back and what better way to re-enter the horse blogger world than to give you a list of my top 5 Equestrian products I am obsessing over at the minute.

Keep reading to find out, be warned, I am a bargain hunter with some things, I love a good bargain and a good long standing product… get the credit cards ready!

Toggi – Sticky Butt Jods

How was I so late to this trend? How Have I been secretly missing out on the amazingness that is sticky arse riding jods? They are the best thing since sliced bread. If you dont have a pair of sticky butt riding jods, go buy a pair ASAP!

I got mine out of curiosity shopping in Holmstead, I have been going through that “I dont feel safe” in the saddle phase and thought I would try out a pair to see if they helped me feel that bit more secure whilst riding. Holy Mother of god they done just that. I dont think I can ever go back to riding without them.. Now I also dont think its correct to suggest you need these jodphurs to feel safe when riding, but as you get older you will try cling to the hope of something keeping you that bit safer when you ride… its all about those false sense of securities for me, they keep me sane!

Toggi have produced a fantastic product for just €59.99,They are comfortable, affordable, dont give you a camel toe and are very pleasing on the eye to look at a fine product for us equestrians, Being the first time I have worn the brand Toggi I am quite happy to now invest all of my money into their products going forward!

Packhorse.ie Mane & Tail Silk

I think I have gotten my point across quite aggressively with this product over on my Instagram the past few weeks. Dante mane is just gross. It is a big huge afro bush that I struggle to maintain half of the time, until this beaut came along. I was kindly gifted this product, but if It didn’t work or if I felt it wasn’t worth the money it certainly would not of made the list!

For €8.99 and for the amount you use at a time, this product is a grooming kit must have. So easy to use, I dabble it on my Penny’s hair brush and whisk it threw Dante mane one or two times a week, depending on his state, But It lasts and keeps that mane shiny for days.

Available from Packhorse.ie

Decathalon Synthetic Riding Boots

I absolutely hate spending “big bucks” on those essential riding items. It just destroys my soul and I have no idea why. Riding boots are something I wear every single day without them I cant begin to image how a, stupid I would look and b, the damage I would do to my feet.

After a lot of research and trying to find the cheapest riding boot available to buy online, some dodgy things did appear on my search bar.. anyways I have always shopped for essentials in decathlon but riding boots was never a thing that came into my mind when I thought of them… until I tried a pair on one day in their Dublin store.

Not only were they comfortable and not too awkward on the eye the cheap price label kind of put me off buying them for a number of week. But I couldnt get the thought of them out of my head I just said F*ck it, whats the harm, I will buy them and if there shit I will use them for something around the yard, for €60 I just couldnt go wrong

Jesus lads, I bagged myself a bargain, they are perfect. They wash well, havnt marked as of yet and they are comfortable. My teeny tiny calves fit into them also, and on bad days when my leg are feeling chunky the zipper has a wide elasticated side so I can squeeze the legs in and still walk around and ride in absolute comfort.

I cant recommend these enough, and people are quite pleasantly surprised when I tell them where I got them and how cheap they where. Add it to the Christmas wish lists lads.. omg did I just say that?

Equisoc Socks

If Equisoc have them, I want them. I am obsessssed. This review doesn’t take much as these socks are top class quality. And not to mention the gorgeous fun prints tend to bring out the young horsey girl vibes in me, they just cant go wrong with anything in my eyes.

We were gifted socks here at NBW, but if I didn’t like them I wouldn’t wear them. I am a fussy betch when it comes to socks, Anything too chunky, my boot doesn’t close, anything not long enough and I get all weird thinking my socks are falling down inside my boot… yes I am weird.

Equisoc socks just hug your legs in all the right places, not to mention the cushiony sole to keep your tootsies riding and walking around on little foot pillows. (yes i did just say that) If you haven’t got a pair yet, what is wrong with you? They start at €9.99 for a two pack pair, super cheap, super affordable.

Available to buy in store at TRI Equestrian or Ladychapel Stores

Enbarr – After Work Bar

I am a sucker for Enbarr products. Not only because they smell delish or that they are environmentally friendly.. the products just simply do exactly what they say on the tin. During lockdown, and during those hot summer evenings, The After Work Bar was the perfect addition to my evening cool down routine after I rode, poor Dante does not do well in the heat.

They have little knobbly heads that get right into the groves of your horse, right into the muscles also contains peppermint which apparently really helps cool down your horses muscles, not to mention that it makes their coats very very shiney. Oh and one last thing, the smell if to dieeee for! Its worth the purchase alone for the gorgeous smell, its not everyday you go home not smelly of horse Sh*t*!

I have it on my list to buy another few bars, mine in down to it last legs!

Product Review – Le Mieux Hay Tidy Bag

I am banging out the product reviews lately. I am really enjoying sharing my opinions on certain products I have purchased or received as gifts, most of them were either Christmas presents or Birthday presents, none have been gifted by the brands themselves, so I hope that is some reassurance to our readers that all of our reviews are genuine.

9 times out of 10 the review is good, mainly because I was so invested in the product I was purchasing, done my research & enjoyed the results I put my money into.

Sometimes, it just doesn’t work out…. Keep reading to find out why.

About The Product – Le Mieux Hay Tidy Bag

The Le Mieux Hay Tidy Bag is an essential addition to your yard equipment. It will help in reducing waste and keeping your yard tidy. Designed with durable high quality fabric and reinforced stitching on the feeding panel this hay bag is suitable for all horses. Featuring a large opening at the top, an adjustable strap, and a clip, this hay bag allows for improved filling efficiency and easy tying.

  • Avaliable in Navy and Black.
  • Essential for the yard.
  • Perfect for travelling.

Yes this was copy & pasted from the website I purchased this product from, after reading this I really believed every single word written about the LeMieux Hay Tidy Bag.

Keep reading to find out the harsh reality….

Why Did I purchase?

As you all may be aware, I recently purchased a new horse box. (My timing was impeccable with all the shows cancelled due to Covid19!)

Anyways, upon purchasing the horse box, I wanted to purchase my own haynet. This may sound pretentious of me but I wanted a haynet that I could leave in the horse box so that I could just refill myself when travelling to shows, avoiding using any of the pre-filled haynets that we can use in the yard.

So I searched of course for a haynet or haybag should I say that physically looked nice because sometimes in life we buy things based on appearance… Poor Darielle always seem to find these things out the hard way!

My Opinion

It is good to try new things, but sometimes when you do it makes you see the quality in what you already had.

NoBuckingWay
This is the haybag from my last journey with Dante, barely any hay touched.

The above quote summarizes my experience with this product. This product really aggravated and upset Dante to the extent that when I opened the horse box at the end of a 10 minute journey he was snorting and dancing around the horse box because he physically couldn’t eat the hay from the haybag, yes my horse is always thinking of food & I think this product teased him more than anything, he couldn’t actually eat what was put right in front of him.

It does state in the description of this product that it is perfect for travelling, I can unfortunately let you all know that I believe it is the complete opposite. While the design looks attractive, the opening at the top is well made and does make it easy & efficient for you the human to fill the bag with hay, but the purpose of the product does not live up to its expectations as my horse found it next to impossible to eat hay from the front of the haybag. The holes on the front or the feeding panel of the bag were just way to small!

It does also state that the haybag “will help reduce waste & keep your yard tidy” I am not too sure what type of selling point this gives to anyone, but I will confirm it is true as I struggled to even pull hay out from the front of the haybag with my own hands…

Going forward I will be sticking to the trust worthy standard haynet for my travels. When travelling Dante I have been using the LeMieux haybag as a way of bringing & storing additional hay with me in the horse box for long journeys, So it still does still have some benefit to me & is was not a complete waste of money!

Purchase Details

The LeMieux Hay Tidy Bag was purchased from Old Mill Saddlery follow the link for the exact page, the price was €22.

Even thought the selling point of this hay bag mentioned nowhere that it was a “slow grazer” or that purpose was to slow down greedy eaters, I would suggest that this product could possibly be ideal for anyone who needs a solution for this matter. It could also be used for a horse on box rest to keep them occupied for a good few hours.

My advice/recommendation to Le Mieux, change the description of the product, So that poor Darielle that has notions of herself with a fancy haynet doesn’t get disappointed!

I hope you as readers understand that this is in no way a bad review to the company LeMieux, but more of an honest opinion on one of their products The Tidy Haybag. This product may work for others, but for me & Dante it just simply did not.

I will always be real in my opinion on a product & for that I commend myself for my own honesty. Too many blogs or bloggers out there are endorsing products they were given for free because they are afraid to give honest opinions, or are recommending them to equestrians for payment, that is quite simply not us!

While this review was honest and probably not what you expected, I do love the brand LeMieux for their numnahs & clothing, so it has in no way tarnished my thoughts on purchasing from the brand again.

I would love to hear from you if you have used this product & what your Opinions are, was it just me?

Thanks for reading,

Darielle

Product Review – Epiony Heatpad and Massage Mitt

Have you heard of the brand Epiony? Well if you haven’t have you been living under a rock? It is the new kid on the block when it comes to essential equestrian must have products.

With everything going on in the world & being out of work and away from the horses it has given us a lot of spare time to start penning our thoughts on the products we have been using. The beauty about these Epiony products is that not only can your horse benifit, you can too!

Want to read more? You know the drill by now, scroll for all the ins & outs!

About The Brand Epiony

Epiony Ltd was founded in 2016 by Emma Easton-Powell BSc (hons), a university student aged 21. Emma started her brand from the ground up at the age of 19 with no previous experience or funding. She started with £200 she had saved up from her birthday and Christmas and started The Massage Mitt in 2014, then rebranded to Epiony Ltd in 2016 and since then has continued to grow into a global therapy brand.

The idea for The Heat Pad came about due to her weak lower back, sometimes after riding or general exercise her back could ache and heat helped ease any discomfort without her having to take painkillers every time. However hot water bottles were impractical to walk around with, were bulky and took time to make so she decided to design a lightweight, portable and flexible Heat Pad that could be used anywhere, not just your back.

Epiony has quite the backround story, to read it in full click this link, it is very inspirational reading how much Emma has grown this company to what it has become today.

The Epiony Heatpad

The Heat Pad runs off a 12 volt smart lithium ion battery with four temperature settings and has been made from a light weight super soft leatherette fabric combined with heat resistant insulation wadding to trap and reflect the heat back onto the muscles to soothe and relax either you or your horse.

It is one of the easiest products to use, turning it on you keep your finger on the button, and to set the tempeture you simply click it to the tempeture you wish. the light indicates the heat intensity, red, orange & green. (green lowest, red highest)

With the heat pad it arrives packed up in a gorgeous carry bag, inside you get two straps, one long surcingle that can be adjusted to size, a neoprene waist belt which is a wider strap that is great for using on your horses neck. Also you get your lithium battery & a charger. It is all safety first when it comes to Epiony, the battery has a special built in thermostat to prevent it from overheating, basically If the battery gets too hot it automatically turns itself off.

For The Human

So anyone following us on Instagram will know that myself (Orla) and Cosmo had a fall when we were jumping a few weeks ago. I landed smack bang on my right shoulder which almost instantly seized up. As with these kind of injuries, I iced it for the first day but after that, the best treatment is heat – enter the Epiony Heatpad. I was in a significant amount of pain after the fall, my neck was extremely sore and stiff and I couldn’t really use my right arm – the heatpad was a godsend. Each evening I’d strap the heatpad on using the straps provided, which are very easily adjusted to fit us humans, and I’d sit with it on for a good hour as it soothed my aches and pains.

After 3 days of using it, I noticed a significant improvement in the muscular pain in and around my shoulder and neck. I’ve had similar injuries before and these have easily taken up to a week to see this kind of improvement so I was grateful to have the heatpad to speed up the healing process.

For The Horse

There are many amazing factors this product has for your horse. For one, it is excellent at reducing stress & helps with relaxing of the muscles. A lot of people find it great for using on your horse pre-exercise as it essentially helps warm your horse up & get the blood flowing to those key muscles your horse would be using during exercise.

The Heat therapy also helps decrease stiffness & increase flexibility that in time improves your horses comfort. This would be a great addition to any horse on rest or any that is recovering from injury. From using it on Dante, I found that using it before exercise almost relaxed him a little too much, so I began using it after workouts as more of a reward to help ease his muscles after work. I found it really helped him and loosened him out when I went to ride him a day or two afterwards. I mainly use it on the top of his neck/poll area & the top of his lower back on his Sacroiliac muscle in 20 minute time frames. These areas tend to tighten up more frequently and the heat helps relax the muscles that bit more. It is a great addition to my kit & helps prolong Dante’s physio visits by a few weeks.

The Epiony Massage Mit

The Massage Mitt is suitable for horses, cats, dog and humans. It relaxes tight and tense muscles, increases blood circulation and reduces stress. It is made from a robust polymer and nine 360 degree rotating steel balls. This hand shaped mitt is exceptionally easy to use and works along with the shape of the surface it works on ensuring comfort and relief in both the masseur and the recipient.

For The Human

The massage mitt is the perfect complementary treatment to the heatpad. I had some serious knots and muscle pain in my shoulder and neck even a few weeks after the fall so when I didn’t have time to sit with the heatpad, the massage mitt was the perfect reliever for my sore, tight muscles. I would regularly try to give myself shoulder massages (as with most riders, I tend to have tight shoulders) but this mitt made it just so much easier. It also allows you to move a bit further down your back, applying even pressure across your muscles as you move. To be honest, Dars is lucky she got it back, I wanted to keep it so it’s definitely on my purchase list!

For The Horse

Again this is another amazing product to loosen & get muscles moving or “awake” prior to exercise. I use it mostly on Dante’s shoulders and around his saddle area. It is normally a quick 10 minute massage before tacking up. It is a super tool to have when you simply don’t have the time to be spending pampering over your horse.

On his days off from work when I have the time to be up grooming he will get an all over body massage. Using circular motions with the mit it really gets the blood circulating in turn releasing tension. It is quite rewarding to see his relaxing expressions when it is being used. It certainly loosens him up thats for sure.

Cleaning The Mitt

I have yet to clean the mit.. sorry Orla, I know you have been using it on your shoulder! So I have copied over the instructions that the Epiony website have given, it is on my to do list once I get back down to the yard!

Our Verdict….

If you dont have one of the above, save up your money & make the purchase. In my opinion it is an essential! It is money well spent or if you want to it would be a good idea to go halves with your horsey friend. Both horse & rider benefit massively from both products, the heatpad was even used by my pregnant sister & she loved it to relieve lower back pain.

They are available to buy direct from www.epiony.com. £139.99 – Heatpad / £10.99 – Massage Mit. Epiony products are definately money well spent if you invest. If you need to save up for a while prior to purchase or if you decide to go halves with your friend, you wont regret it!

We also recommend you keep an eye on their social media accounts, facebook & Instagram, Epiony run regular competitions, you could be lucky enough to win some of their amazing products.

Two super products that I can’t recommend enough for anyone looking to purchase. The heatpad seems a little on the pricier side, but when you look at the benefits it is certainly exceptional value for money.

They do have a third product, the Thermal Wand this retails at £169.95, it is a little outside of our price range at the minute, but another product we certainly have our eye on.

Thank you for reading, and if you have any questions regarding both products please do get in contact. This was not a gifted post & my review was based from experience & a great Christmas present!

Until Next Time,

Darielle

Dante Update: The Changes I made to round my 8yr old horse

It’s been a long time since I done an update on Dante let alone any progress related posts. We have certainly come a very long way! Dante is now 8… 8 years old!!!! What the Fork!

The last year we have overcome an awful lot of obstacles, from behavioral issues to outbreaks in how we works together as a team, we have changed & tweaked a certain amount of things to get us where we are today.

There is a still a good bit to go, but I can safely say that I am extremely happy with our progress to date. Let me run through some of the things below, from jumping to small tack changes, sometimes you have to power through the storm to see some good results & sometimes small tweaks & adjustments are what you need to do!

Keep reading to read all about us, our journey, the changes, maybe you might pick up some ideas, or maybe you might be in the same boat!

Jumping – This has always been something I have struggled to find the happy medium with. Dante loves to jump, he has so much talent jumping also. I think for me I always had the fear of him taking off on me, therfore I struggled to think that I ever had control of any situation. The last year has changed tremendoulsy. We completed our First Meter Course before Xmas & looking back on the first half of the course, it was truly dreadful. I didn’t know then but Looking at it now I am super proud of that metre course we done, we ackomplished a massive achievement. Pushing yourself is something that you should definately do every once in a while, & it has paid off. I have more confidence now & I think we both trust each other a lot more. I certainly trust him a lot more to get me aroudn a course without me having to interfere as much as I thought I had too.

We have been focusing a lot on strengthening up Dante’s weaker rein. I am aware that Rome wasn’t built in a day so this will also take time, I am happy to see the small improvements as we focus on our training sessions at home. I am 100% jinxing myself but right now I am so happy with him, he jumps with a controlled contained energy behind him instead of exploding off into the distance with me, I am just a super proud HOM. (Horse Mom!) Long may the improvements continue.

Tack Changes – Fluffy nosebands, I honestly thought these were kind of stupid before, that people who used them simply just liked fluff. Who can blame them, they are so flufffffy!! Again, I can hold my hands up & say I was completely wrong on this also, yes I am a judge bitch! I noticed that when out jumping a course, Dante was looking everywhere instead of where he was supposed to, so someone suggested getting blinkers & putting a fluffy cover over his noseband to help him concentrate.

It bloody well worked a treat!! The fluff on his nose helped distract him and kind of had him looking down, so no head in the air, and the Blinkers made him look straight ahead of him where he should of been looking when he was working or when jumping. All these small changes have worked & helped us massively, and Yes my ignorance got the better of me, why didnt I listen a few years ago?

Singular fluff piece is from Holmestead Saddlery

Bits – Dante has always been ridden in a snaffle, he still is from time to time. I noticed that I majorly lacked any control at times or struggled to get him back to me when jumping bigger fences or courses. So with a lot of useless googling done by me, I gave up & went and asked my trainers. One suggested to use a A Copper Cherry Roller snaffle, and the other a Rope GAG bit. (Yass, I have two trainers, They are amazing, #Jer #Sue) I learned that interestingly enough both bits actually seemed to work quite well for him.

I use the Gag mainly when out jumping courses or when doing jumping lessons at home & when I am lunging or doing flat work sessions I use the copper cherry roller snaffle. I have two bridles, so the only torture I have is changing the reins over. These 2 new bits used in coordination with each other have also been a factor in softening Dante in the mouth, in turn it has softened my contact a lot, it’s been a win win situation all round.

Cheltenham Gag, rope cheek pieces from Equijump Ltd.
Copper Cherry Roller Bit.

Flatwork Improvements – We can actually leg yield 4-5 steps now without having a tantrum! I never thought I would ever say that! He reacts to my leg aids extremely well now & His arse is actually starting to move in sync with his entire body, it doesn’t have a mind of its own anymore, I am THRILLLLLED!!!! Honestly though, the difference in the way he holds himself is tremendous. Hard work certainly pays off, I will say I have been wearing spurs on him for the extra back up I need to keep him moving forward. I do alternate between days of riding him with & without them.

Lunging – Yes people I use training aids. And to all you people out there that don’t agree with them or troll people that do use them, there are more important things in life that trying to voice or force your opinion about something that is not relevant to you. #BeKind.

I have found the magic ingredient to getting him lunging nicely, relaxed & more importantly something that helps & encourages him to stretch his giraffe neck down. Something he is so bad at may I add. The Reinrite lunge. I try to lunge him once a week and try focus more on transitions & maintaining steady rhythms through out our work. It all seems to be translating into our riding, something that you cant help but be happy with.

The ReinRite Lunge, their newest product! Full review coming soooooon!!

The Riders Journey – Well considering I haven’t left the yard since before Xmas, cabin fever is beginning to set in big time, not having a box was a big factor to this, but…… I am also thrilled to say that I have recently just purchased a new horse box! I am over the moon & still quite shocked that I have one. I have a list as long as my arm of places I need to get back to, the Curragh Water Treadmill being one, This place is just a godsend for horses. If you haven’t been I advise you get your horse there now, Hettie & co, I will over in a few weeks!! Some Big plans need to be set in motion for Summer 2020 ASAP!!

I am also dying to get over to Carlanstown for some XC, Amy Smyth I am not forgetting those insta plans to meet up over there soon!!

I do shamefully need to start looking after myself a bit better, I am not getting any younger & my back certainly is beginning to take the blunt of some of the things I do. It is quite hard to find time to go to the gym between work, the horse & being a mom time is of an essence so maybe I will just have to start doing some home exercises again, my core needs a lot of work!! Anyone any suggestions??

What The Future Holds – Some plans are being put into motion, we are hopefully going to make The RC spring league, along with the festival & SJ Championships in the summer. I also definitely want to move up a class in RC & do some more SJI show. And yes you heard it here first, this year I am going to try do some dressage tests…. he has good movement & potential I just need to get myself some more patience!

Ohh & lastly, I want to go on a horsey trip with Dante, I’m thinking maybe some of you could come too? Il start by Throwing the idea out there….

Some hardcore Dante reminiscing right there, it’s good to sit down & write or even think about your accomplishments to date with your horse. It certainly helps to put some things into perspective.

Patting yourself on the back from time to time & telling yourself you’ve done a good job is also needed.

For now, it’s back to some proper work with Dante, this shitty weather in Ireland has me pushing the pause button every 2nd day. I am counting down the days until Summer!!

Talk soon,

Darielle

Product Review – Equitop Myoplast

Over the past year I have found it quite hard to find a supplement to help support Dante and his every growing body. As he is quite the large animal, training him & working his muscles without the proper support was not exactly ideal. We went through spurts where he gained incredible muscle then dropped it quite quickly due to winter months, cold weather & to be honest, not enough physical work to up keep the gains he made.

Dante is a 7 Year old Irish Sport Horse, he is 17.3hh and to be brutally honest I will say that he is quite the slow developer, he is nicknamed the giraffe when it comes to how he works his body, he is yet to piece himself together when it comes to muscle growth & maintaining that muscle mass.

So I set out on a mission to put the head down & focus on Dante’s nutritional needs just like I do with myself when I go to the gym, muscle needs support in order to grow. With a lot of research & with a few test trials on other products, ones that just didn’t suit Dante I came across Equitop Myoplast. I came across this product from word of mouth, and from the ever so popular social media site Instagram.

I reached out to the brand & after a few exchanges over email & a phone conversations later, I was gifted the product to trial on Dante. With the Autumn competition season ahead, getting in shape was something both of us needed. Whilst I hit the gym, Dante was put on his 5 day workout routine adding in our new supplement Equitop Myolpast. We have come up to our 5 week mark with the product.

What is Equitop Myoplast?

Equitop Myoplast is an amino acid high quality feed supplement specifically designed to support lean muscle growth & structure for your horse. It is Created from a combination of 18 amino acids that help support lean muscle growth. Essential amino acids in Equitop Mysoplast include L-Lysine, L-Threonine, DL-Methionine and L-Tryptophan.

Equitop Myoplast is a very compact feed, it is a sugar coated pearl granule making it very easy to feed to your horse.

What Does It Do?

Amino acids are the building blocks of the proteins which form muscles. Unlike many supplements that use a combination of fats and oils to promote weight gain, Equitop Myoplast focuses solely on muscle growth. As mentioned above it contains a complex blend of 18 amino acids, this helps with growing and recovering of your horses muscle tissue. It helps supports & helps develop your horses muscles during intense training periods. It supports suppleness, stamina & muscle growth particularly in your horses topline & hind-end.

While your Horse can produce some amino acids themselves, what is required to help build them up & support their muscle growth must be supplied within their diet. If a horse’s diet is lacking in any amino acids, their performance may take a hit.

How Do You Feed It?

It is recommended that Equiptop Myoplast is fed to your horse for at least 2 months. One scoop is to be fed to your horse twice a day, One during the morning, and one in the evening.

< 500 kg              1 measure (25g)

> 500 kg              2 measures (50g)

Each tub of EM comes with a very nifty measuring tool, so your horse is guaranteed to get the correct amount each time. Equiptop Myoplast mixed in with any wet feed can make it taste quite bitter for your horse. but I can safely say that as Dante is fed wet feed (pulp) twice daily & I have had no problems with him eating it mixed in.

There is also an option to hand feed this supplement to your horse twice a day also if you wish, I have heard of a few people that do it this way.

Who Can Benefit From Equitop Myoplast

It is of course important that you only use it & feed it to your horse if they need it. It certainly benefits no one or any horse if you start loading them up with supplements for the sake of it, everything should have a purpose. Equiptop Myoplast has some guidelines as to when they recommend the use, see them below,

  • During periods of intense training for your horse, where you are in competition
  • Getting your horse back into shape at the beginning of a season or if you are bringing your horse back in to work after a long rest period
  • For horses who have difficulties maintaining condition
  • Brood Mares who are lacking protein
  • During rehabilitation, where you dont want your horse to drop muscle it will help maintain the condition.
  • It is also great for young horse starting off on their training journeys

What Do I Really Think?

It is not very often that you try a product that promises you the world of change in your horse to actually get the exact results it gives you on the tin. With this product I can say it certainly ticked all the correct boxes for me & I think certainly for Dante. I honestly cannot believe the difference not only in Dante’s appearance (see image below) but in his behavior too.

The image on the right is from two weeks on Equitop Myoplast, with the image on the left takes yesterday week 5.

A lot of people have commented that Dante has started to mature in the past 5 weeks, but they also didn’t realise that within the last 5 weeks he has been on Equitop Myoplast. To say it is a coincidence is something but to say it gave us great results is an absolute fact.

While I really don’t believe in loading your horse up with every supplement under the sun, their regular diet should contain everything they need to maintain balance, but there is no harm in adding in something extra to help build your horse up the way they should be.

Feeding this supplement alone needs to be backed up with regular & proper exercise to help your horse maintain that muscle growth. I would recommend that if using this that your horse is doing a minimum of 4 days exercise per week, pole work & transition work amongst your routines will also no doubt help massively with this supplement.

I am over the moon with the results I have gotten in this product, not only does he look fantastic, but his is carrying himself so much better now that he has the support of his new found muscles!

Over the past few weeks I have received some great feedback on Dante’s appearance, and unusually I have began to notice myself. As a person who sees her horse 7 days a week, I always find it quite hard to see the difference in my horse when I am forever looking at him but I am certainly beginning to feel it & that to me speaks volumes.

It could also just be a coincidence, but over the past few weeks Dante seems to have matured, he has calmed down massively & just seems to be so much happier in his work. He is willing to learn, he can carry himself a lot better & he is performing to the best of his abilities. I can safely put my hands up now & say that any errors made in the ring are purely down to the rider at this point!!

I am over the moon with this product and I hope to continue to use it as we come into our winter competitions. I couldn’t recommend it enough not only for the amazing results you will see in your horse but for everything else it does that is not stated on the tin. I have gotten myself a brand new horse out of this supplement so why not try it for yourselves on your horse & get the same result as I have.

A massive thank you to Warren over at Equiptop Myoplast, I hope to collaborate with you again in the future, but for now to buy your tub check out the link where you can buy online. It is also available in Ireland from Orchard Equestrian.
